St. Charles Antique Toy and Doll World Show
(Kane Co. Toy Show) - Saturday, April 27

Here is what I saw at the kick-off to our spring season with the first Kane County toy show of the year. First off I saw not one, but three Captain Gallant playsets, the cheapest was offered for $900.The box was fair, the tin folded and no original bags or dividers. One dealer had a MIB BMC Rough Riders for $40.00 and another dealer had the same set for $25.00. I think you can buy it new off of any dealer's list for $29.95. Another dealer had a T Cohn tin fort,no figures, with the Pony Express building, it was in great shape, offered at $245. At another booth I saw 2 Roy Rogers rodeo sets. The boxes had gray patches on them which I swear looked like mold and he wanted $250 each. Another booth had 2 Guns Of Navarone for $150 each. I don't know if they were complete or not. I also saw our good friend from Toledo Ohio, Joe Saine with a nice selection of metal and I ran into none other than Freddy the Clown, who was buying this time, not selling. Ii forgot to mention it was a cold, damp, windy day with wind chills in the 30's.
